How Long Does it Take for a Nectar Mattress to Expand?

Nectar is a mattress-in-a-box, which means that its mattresses arrive vacuum-sealed. Unboxing the Nectar Mattress is a bit like looking at unravelling an inflatable swimming pool — one you don’t need to fill with air, as the Nectar will start to expand when it comes into contact with air. This can take a while, depending on the humidity, air pressure and ventilation in the room it’s in. Here’s how long it takes a Nectar Mattress to expand.

How Long Does it Take for Nectar Mattress to Expand?

It takes between 24 and 72 hours for a Nectar Mattress to expand. The easiest way to tell whether it’s fully expanded is to measure the depth: If it’s 11 inches deep, you’re ready to hit the sack.  No two mattresses take the same amount of time to expand, as the process can be slowed down by humidity or a lack of ventilation, so ensure all the windows and doors are open and there’s a steady stream of clean air entering the room for the best results.

Can You Sleep on a Nectar Mattress Straight Away?

If you’ve been waiting for your Nectar Mattress to expand, but it still isn’t done, and you need to head to bed, you can sleep on it. Nectar recommends waiting until it’s fully expanded for the best results, but sleeping on it shouldn’t stop it from expanding: It just may not be as soft or comfortable to sleep on than it would have been if it were fully expanded. It’s not unsafe to sleep on it before it’s fully expanded, though, writes Nectar on its website.
